Cookies in this kitchen

A plain-language guide to what these pages store—and what their local tools do not send.

What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small pieces of data that a browser can retain for a website and, in some circumstances, send back with later requests. Local storage is a separate browser feature that lets scripts retain information across visits. Both can be used for useful preferences, but they can also support tracking.

The supplied editorial pages

The HTML, CSS and JavaScript supplied for these editorial pages do not set cookies, use localStorage or sessionStorage, or include advertising and analytics trackers. No third-party fonts, scripts, stylesheets or embedded media are requested by these pages.

The mobile menu, expandable FAQ answers and recipe checkmarks use temporary page state. They are not saved as persistent preferences by the editorial script. A browser may independently restore controls or form fields when navigating back or reopening a tab.

Contact-tool storage

The message tool keeps the text you enter within the open page. Preparing a note does not upload it. Copying places text on your device’s clipboard if your browser permits it. Downloading creates a plain-text file on your device. Neither action is a cookie, and deleting website cookies will not necessarily clear your clipboard or downloaded files.

If you send the note using an email provider, that provider’s own storage and privacy practices apply. Read Your information here for more about the distinction between preparing a message and sending it.

Hosting and separately managed components

This description covers the supplied editorial code. A hosting service or separately managed site component may operate at a different layer, for example for security or consent preferences. Any such component should identify its own actual storage, purpose and applicable choices. The editorial pages do not determine those external settings.

Do not interpret the absence of tracking code in these pages as a guarantee that your browser, network, hosting infrastructure or device collects no information. You can inspect current site storage through your browser’s privacy or developer tools.

Your browser controls

Most browsers let you review and remove data stored for a particular website, block some cookies, and control clipboard permissions. Look for settings labeled privacy, site data, cookies or permissions. Instructions differ between browsers and devices.

Clearing browser data may remove preferences managed by other components, but it does not erase email you have sent or a file you downloaded. For a shared device, consider those separate copies too.

Questions and updates

If the site’s actual use of storage changes, this page should be updated to reflect it. For a question about these editorial pages, email [email protected].
